Antique Rose Cut Diamond Halo Style Ring, 14k Rose Gold and Platinum
This completely irreplaceable and one-of-a-kind ring features a .84 carat K/L SI1 antique rose cut diamond center. Many rose cut diamonds are cut in modern day. True rose cuts were cut between 1525 AD and 1750 AD. The original ring mounting in sterling silver is believed to have been hand fabricated in Turkey. During this era, rose cuts were most commonly set in sterling silver with a foil back. Sterling silver is a very soft metal, so by this time in its life, most of these rings have long deteriorated. We are pleased to say that the person fortunate enough to call this their own will receive the original mounting with their new ring!
We hand fabricate like they did in the "old days" . . . in the era of this original ring. We fabricated the base of the ring in 14k soft rose gold. You can see in the picture that shows the diamond loose, there is a little cupped piece of foil that has facets engraved on it. In keeping with the original concept, we fabricated a platinum cup and hand engraved the original faceting pattern they used way back when. The entire top is fabricated in platinum as well. Rubies were not enhanced by heat treatments until the late 1800's, so in the era of this diamond, they had not begun to heat rubies. Therefore, for the creation of our new ring, we opted for natural (unheated/untreated) rubies from Madagascar to surround this amazing center. The only modern addition to this ring is the "something new", which is modern cut diamonds, one on each side.
Truly a must-see heirloom masterpiece! So durable and so very stunning!
